What do you get when you combine Chicago’s famous vegetarian restaurant plus the makers of Daiya vegan cheese? Help that will result in a big “thank you” from every rescued animal that’s a victim of the Gulf Coast oil spill.
From now until August 31, for every “Radical Reuben” purchased at the Chicago Diner, $1 will be donated to Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue organizations.
Daiya Vegan Cheese has donated all vegan shredded cheese to be used on the vegan reubens for this event.
The sandwich features seitan with grilled peppers, onions, sauerkraut, vegan or dairy cheese and homemade vegan dressing.
The Chicago Diner, an landmark Windy City restaurant since 1983 located on the north side of town, featured on TLC’s “Best Food Ever” for the Radical Reuben during an episode titled, “Darn Good Diners.”
Proceeds from the sales of the Radical Reuben during this period will benefit rescue organizations such as Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue, International Bird Rescue, National Wildlife Federation, Louisiana Wildlife Rehabilitators, The Audubon Society, Audubon Nature Institute, Tri-State Bird Rescue and Marine Mammal Center.
