Quantcast Vegetarian StarSeth Rogen Narrates “Ferdinand The Bull” With Salastina Music Society (Video)

Seth Rogen narrated the children’s story, The Story of Ferdinand, better known as Ferdinand the Bull, as the Salastina Music Society performed a composition by Alan Ridout at the Salastina Music Society debut concert.

Originally published in the 1930s, The Story of Ferdinand tells of a happy go lucky, passive bull who would rather be enjoying nature than fighting with other animals or partaking in bullfights.

Ferdinand’s story is a children’s book, and as PETA points out on its blog, the gory details of what occurs during a bullfight were omitted.

“Because this is a book for kids, Leaf also didn’t mention that bulls are repeatedly stabbed with knives (called banderillas) until they are dizzy, weakened from blood loss, and suffering agonizing pain. Even though the goal is to kill the bulls, they are often still conscious when their ears and tails are cut off as trophies and they are dragged from the ring.”

Admittedly, the beautiful music done by the Salastina group is also a detractor.

The vote to ban bullfighting in the Catalonia region of Spain was delayed earlier this month. According to the LA Times, the center-right Popular Party requested a ruling from a legal advisory body over whether or not the move violates Spain’s constitution that gives the Catalonia region the right to be self-ruling and create such laws for itself.
