Bobby Jindal Can Create Louisiana Jobs With Chicken Empathy Museum?

Mayor Nagin And Gov't Officials Hold News Briefing On Coming Storm, Gustav

When a chicken slaughterhouse located in Farmersville, Louisiana, Pilgrim’s Pride, announced it was closing its doors due to the bad economy, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal put together an emergency task force to try to prevent losing over a thousand jobs.

PETA is interested in putting its hand in Louisiana’s economic pocket and has offerred to buy the plant and turn it into a “chicken empathy museum.”

“The museum would also promote compassion for animals and educate people about the suffering endured by the 9 billion chickens who are killed for food every year,” writes PETA on its blog. “What better job is there for a former factory-farm worker than to educate others about how wonderful chickens really are?”

The idea is that the museum would not only provide jobs but also attract tourists. It would include a restaurant and give out free plush toys to children. Uh-oh. Stuffed animals and children. Parent wouldn’t stand a chance to protest against going.

But seriously, there’s a lot of talk about green jobs and how these will improve our economy. Vegetarian falls under “green” but the idea of a veg powered economy is not farfetched, with plant based products, such as biofuel, already in demand.

And the chicken plant isn’t the first animal agriculture business to fall prey to the recession. Dairy is losing its punch too

What veg businesses do you think could thrive after being created?

Barack Obama Asks For Vegetarians’ Advice, But Not On Best Tofu

President Obama Holds Town Hall Meeting In Fort Myers, Florida

No, it’s not a Jack-In-The-Box, it’s Barack-In-The-Box, and he’s asking for our advice.

Or any vegetarian’s advice.

At a recent speech during a Town Hall meeting in Fort Meyers, Florida, The President said he was “open to any idea, whether it comes from a Democrat or a Republican or a vegetarian.”

Looks like we’re a party now. Yippee!

If you recall us telling you, Pamela Anderson gave her advice before he even asked for it, writing him a letter asking him to promote vegetarianism:

“Promote vegetarianism-which would help end world hunger- crack down on factory farming that is killing the environment and slaughtering so many animals- wastefully and carelessly and its unhealthy/and its just impractical- to think this is monitored/regulated effectively…”

She even sent him a book for Christmas.

Now PETA is throwing in their two cents, and have sent him a first class letter to 1600 Pennsylvania. Here’s an excerpt:

“As you know, vegetarian foods have no cholesterol and lots of fiber; meat, eggs, and dairy products contain a lot of cholesterol and have no fiber. No wonder that meateaters are nine times more likely to be obese than vegans are. The American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada are among the many health organizations that are reporting that vegetarians have “lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease;… lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.”

If you were the kind of child who always had to get the last word in the classroom, here’s your opportunity. What advice would you give Obama on running the nation, saving the healthcare system, and making Americans healthier?

And if you want to tell him the best way to make tofu, that’s perfectly alright.
