Quantcast Vegetarian Stargreen homes

This year, the Pasadena Showcase of Design will feature greening the garage space with garage designer to the stars Garage Envy. Ed Begley Jr. is one of Garage Envy’s clients.

Begley Jr. spoke to the Pasadena Showcase of Design, giving his thoughts on how existing, older homes can be made more sustainable.

“The one thing I like about the Pasadena Showcase house is that they’re doing as much repurposing as possible–saving as much timber and brick and stone and tile and everything and not putting it in a landfill,” Begley says in the video.

“Oh, we’re going to put up a new energy efficient home,” Begley says of the builders who aim to go green but may be wasting much in the process. “Ok, that’s good on one end that you have an energy efficient home, but how did you get there? What kind of materials did you waste in the process?”

The Pasadena Showcase House of Design is open from April 17-May 15, 2011.

The video featuring Begley Jr. can be viewed below.

Treehugger.com has compiled their list of celebrities with the best green homes and two vegetarian stars, Daryl Hannah and Ed Begley Jr. are on the list.

If you have the privilege of visiting Daryl, you might chill on her moss covered stone that doubles as a couch in her almost entirely solar powered home.

And if you think Daryl’s moss couch is wild, Ed Begley Jr. gets really crazy with a white picket fence made from recycled milk jugs!

Have lunch with Ed with food cooked from his solar powered oven which sits outdoors and be sure to check out his rain water barrels while (hopefully) someone else is doing the cooking.
