PETA is kicking off the annual World’s Sexiest Vegetarian contest and funny former bedwetter Sarah Silverman has some stiff competition, competing against the likes of women like Alicia Silverstone, Lea Michele and Erykah Badu.

Who doesn’t love a woman who can throw humor into a poignant story that involved slaughtering animals, which ultimately caused her to give them up?

From her book, The Bedwetter, Silverman writes on the experience of watching a turkey being killed on a neighbor’s farm:

“Without realizing it, I had sentenced that turkey to death, and while maybe this sort of thing gave fat British monarchs a rush, to me it was horrifying.”

Vegan Cheese List Should Rescue Grumpy Lea Michele

Reports are that Glee star Lea Michele is acting all diva and bitchy on the set.

“Lea acts like she’s better than the rest of the cast,” a source told US Magazine.

Another source said, “She’s sweet, but she has her moments,” while yet another mentioned “she has become super-strict about her diet. She is a vegan now and says she hasn’t eaten cheese in a year!”‘

Duh! Hence the reason for the bitchiness.

If you’ve been a good boy or girl and know cheese is nothing but the product of whoring out cows that live only a 1/5 of their natural lifespan, not to mention the environmental impact of those same whores passing gas on dairy farms, you might have some “moments” of your own after giving up such an addictive and admittedly tasty product.

In walks vegan cheese to soothe yourself and everyone around you.

From soy based to rice based to nut cheese, there’s a block, bag of shreds or log to fulfill you when you need it. Check out this extensive list of vegan cheeses featuring products available at both the grocery store and online.

It’s been a year. It’s time. No one should go through that kind of dry spell.

Lea Michel as Rachel Berry in "Glee"

Lea Michele as Rachel Berry in "Glee"

Glee is bringing Lea Michele‘s real life characteristics into her Rachel Berry character.

On a recent episode, Rachel is lured into the parking lot by Jesse, and she experiences an onslaught of chicken fetuses to her face, or at least that’s what some chick from rival singing club Vocal Adrenaline says:

“I hear you’re a vegan, Berry. The souls of those poor egg fetuses are all on your conscience now.”

Actually, most eggs from the supermaket are the unfertilized products of a chicken’s reproductive cycle, so Miss Vocal Adrenaline needs to study her biology more between after school practices.

Unless she got them from a free-range farm where the chick and the rooster actually engaged in Hanky Panky. In that case, then, yeah, those poor would have been chickens. Free-range chickens good, killing potential chicks bad. Rachel Berry can’t win for losing.

2010 FOX Upfront After Party

Lea Michele has admitted to her two favorite guilty pleasures, and they’re both in the sweet tooth category.

Michele told Stylist:

“Dark chocolate and vegan cupcakes! My guilty pleasure used to be cheese but since I’ve become a vegan I’ve found that vegan desserts taste better than any regular dessert, so that’s what I go to immediately. I’m obsessed with Smart Water. I drink it all day long. I used to be a really big coffee drinker and then I just decided to cut down.”

Unfortunate that Michele is representing Dove Hair Care Products, because according to the Caring Consumer Database, Dove/Unilever is a company that still conducts animal testing.

Lea Michele is on the cover of the June 2010 issue of Women’s Health.

The Glee actress says she used to curl up with a block of cheese for a good time, until she learned more about the deleterious effects of dairy on people and animals.

“My idea of heaven used to be relaxing at home with a cheese plate and champagne… I’m a foodie, but I think it’s much more fun to find things on the menu that are good for me,’ Michele says.

Reading the best selling book Skinny Bitch gave her what she called a slap “in the face.”

The vegan diet book contains an entire chapter titled, “The Dairy Disaster.”

Having Italian heritage on one side of her family, leaving cheese off the pasta and sauce dishes wasn’t the easiest transition.

“Coming from an Italian family, you can imagine [they] couldn’t understand. But they respected my decision.”

And she has learned to veganize some of her mother’s favorite recipes.

The 64th Annual Tony Award Nominations New York

Lea Michele admits she’s not a party girl.

She not into substances and doesn’t go out clubbing and said you’ll never see her, “on a table at a bar, jumping up and down.”

So what does Glee girl Rachel Berry do on her weekends?

You just might find her having a ball with a bean and rice bowl and some acai juice.

She described her favorite way to relax after a long, hard day as getting the, “most delicious vegan food I can find, generally from Real Food Daily. I get kale, black beans, brown rice and tofu, with lime cilantro dressing and hot sauce. I’ll pour myself a glass of organic wine. I’ll watch the crappiest reality television, maybe take a bath or a shower, give myself a nice little face mask and go to bed.”

Yum!

And who says prudes don’t know how to party?

Lea Michele Answers If She’ll Ever Go Nude–“Full PETA”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, May 3rd, 2010 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Fur.

Michele poses at a party to celebrate the premiere of the second season of the television series Glee in Los Angeles

Lea Michele recently interviewed with Popeater when she was asked if she’d every go, “full PETA.”

After the interviewer had to explain he wanted a naked Rachel Berry protesting against fur, Michele had this to say about getting naked for the cause.

Basically, she feels she can be effective in telling people to wear their own skins without showing much of hers.

“I think that you can get the word out there without a huge billboard of taking your clothes off,” Michele said.

But she hasn’t ruled it out for the future.

“I got a couple of years ahead of me to do stuff like that.”

You can watch the interview at Popeater.
