They say you can tell a lot from an NBA player by the contents of his locker.

That’s why we’re only getting positive vibes from Phoenix Suns’ Amar’e Stoudemire, who has a copy of the book, Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina, on the shelf.

Becoming Vegan is a one stop vegan guide for everything meat, fish, dairy and egg-free, including best sources of calcium and protein, good fats, vegan eating for infants and children, pregnancy and breast feeding.

Stoudemire, who recently spoke about his 4 day vegan fast and has also posed in an anti-fur ad for PETA, probably paid close attention to the section on maintaining top performance as a vegan athlete.

Written by two dietitians, one of the co-authors, Brenda Davis, has served as the chair of the American Dietetic Association’s Vegetarian Nutrition Practice Group.

Amar’e Stoudemire is on a break from practicing with the Phoenix Suns and says he’s using the time off to go on a 4 day vegan fast.

“With my four days off, I’m really taking time off to purify my body, and get my body in top shape for these last 16-17 games. So right now, I’m on a vegan fast.”

Although he may opt of out his contract and become a free agent, he hints that he’ll stay in Arizona if the team can “meet his number.”

His hard work and dedication to putting the best in his body has earned him 22.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season.

Is this why AZ Central calls him a “predator fueled by vegetables?”

Ladies, you know by now that the PETA naked people ads don’t appeal to you nearly as much to men.

But progress is in the works.

Dennis Rodman showed his buns against fur, Owain Yeoman bared his pecs and now NBA basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire is showing off his chiseled body of  tattoos.

“I love animals, and I wouldn’t want to see anything cruel … happen to any animals just for a fashion,” Stoudemire said.

Which is why he’s asking you to get inked instead of buying mink, fox, rabbit and any other animal for a coat.

Sigh…soon women will ask Amar’e for favors as well.
