Michael Pollan Gets “Cooked” With Stephen Colbert (Video)

Michael Pollan was a guest with Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report discussing his latest book that explores the art of cooking in the home kitchen, Cooked.
Pollan, also the author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma, is not a proponent of a completely vegetarian diet, but he has a lot to say about avoiding processed food and shunning corporations that do not put a lot of thought into the ingredients that go into their products.
“The most important thing about your diet is not a nutrient, but an activity–cooking,” Pollan says.
“So the question about your diet is not about what you’re eating, but who’s cooking it. Is it a human being? As long as a human being is cooking for you and not a corporation, you’re find.”
Of course, if smart human beings are behind the corporation–planning and sourcing ingredients that are so natural and wholesome it’s as if a personal chef had prepared the dish–that might not be such a bad idea either.
