Leilani Munter has an Earth Day interview with VegNews magazine, one of the three sponsors behind her new VegNation race car to promote plant-based eating among NASCAR fans and more.

Munter realizes that a job as professional race car driver isn’t the most environmentally friendly one.

But just as the world grows closer and closer to running motorized vehicles on eco-friendly fuel (even those that run at 200 mph), Munter continues to do her part by educating fans of the environment, leaving recycling bins at the track, and of course, adhering to a plant-based diet.

“No one is free of a carbon footprint, whether you drive a car to work or fly on airplanes to environmental conferences,” Munter said during the interview.

“If I stopped racing, it would not take a racecar off the grid—I would simply be replaced by another driver, likely one who doesn’t go out of his or her way to take care of the environment; is not offsetting with rainforest credits; and is not promoting green technologies at the racetrack. I would lose my ability to talk to, and hopefully win over, some of the millions race fans about green living.”
