“Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cookoff” Gets Vegetarian Friendly

Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cookoff premiered this week and both Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri have vegetarian and animal friendly stars on their teams.
Team Rachael is proud to be presented by Kathy Najimy, who’s playing for her favorite charity, PETA. Najimy also has a vegan teen daughter.
On Team Guy’s side is fashion designer and cookbook author Cornelia Guest, who’s playing for the Humane Society of New York.
For the episode “The Show Must Go On,” each team had the challenge of putting together a menu for a dinner theatre, as well as a three minute skit based on the meal theme.
Cornelia’s “Vegetarian Chili w/ lots o’beans” was judged as having good presentation, but lacking “heat.”
Najmy’s “Vegan Stuffed Magic Mushrooms” was deemed a little underseasoned with burnt pine nuts. She ended up at the bottom two, but saved herself during the Blind Tasting Elimination with hummus, something enjoyed by both Rachael and Guy.
Viewers may see plan-based dishes cropping up during the competition. Next week the contestants will head straight to the garden, cooking with the freshest ingredients.
Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cookoff airs at 8:00 PM Central Time on the Food Network.
