New York Rangers coach John Tortorella was a guest on HLN with Jane Velez-Mitchell discussing the very first John Tortorella NYC Dog Walk sponsored by him.
Tortorella’s foundation, the John & Christine Tortorella Family Foundation, partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to sponsor the event on September 9th. Proceeds donated benefited the Westchester Humane Society and other shelters in the area.
Tortorella himself owns three rescue dogs.
“My wife and I have been animal lovers for I don’t know how long. She brought me in to the Westchester Humane Society,” Tortorella told Jane, explaining how seeing the animals in the shelter motivated him to do more for homeless animals.
Eric Lobel, president of the Westchester Humane Society, was also present, discussing some statistics about pet adoption. He said the best way to convince a pet seeker shelter animals are the “way to go” is to just get the potential owner there.
