Quantcast Vegetarian StarKathy Freston Has “The Lean” Plan For Vegan-Friendly Weight Loss

Kathy Freston "The Lean"

Kathy Freston, the author who spurred a challenge for everyone to gradually get into the vegan diet with her last best-selling book, Veganist: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, Change the World, is now instructing those looking to shed pounds how to do it in an animal-friendly manner.

The Lean: A Revolutionary (And Simple) 30-Day Plan For Healthy, Lasting Weight Loss, is divided into 30 segments, each advocating a different “tip” for achieving and maintaining healthy weight and includes “Trade Your Milk and Butter for Plant-Based Versions,” “Make Your Lunch Without Animal Products,” and “Take the Animals Off the Dinner Plate.”

“The more you lean away from animal products with all of that concentrated fat and calories inherent in meat (including chicken and fish), and toward plant-based food which is high in fiber and phytonutrients, the leaner and more energetic you will be,” Freston said in an interview. “It’s a spectrum, and you can just keep moving along at your own pace!”

Recipes in The Lean, such as the Chick’n with Creamy Mushroom Sauce, were created by Chef Dayna McLeod and contain the rising popular plant-based protein Gardein, a substitute for chicken and beef products.

“The Gardein Chick’n scaloppini is a staple that I always have in my freezer,” says Freston. “Use it just like you would use a chicken breast and create lots of different meals.”

Will you be leaning into the vegan diet with this faux chicken dinner featuring Gardein Chick’n scaloppini and wild and white mushrooms? Grab the recipe at Blisstree.
