Quantcast Vegetarian StarAlberto Contador Cleared Of Doping Charges. Cows Are Druggies. Not Him.

Alberto Contador

Just because you aren’t a druggie, doesn’t mean you won’t test positive. It’s all about association and the cows you lock lips with could bring you down.

Alberto Contador, a three-time Tour de France winner, was recently cleared of doping allegations.

Contador had always maintained he didn’t ingest the performance enhancing drug Clenbuterol. And there’s strong evidence the burgers and steak he ate could have been the source.

A drug used to produce leaner meat in animals, Clenbuterol is not used in United States’ livestock and most countries do not allow it for animals being raised as food.

Contador claims he ate meat contaminated with the drug while he and his teammates were in Spain, where there have been two confirmed outbreaks involving people getting sick after eating meat containing the drug.

Contador got off lucky by just being the subject of a doping investigation.

The FDA claims eating meat containing Clenbuterol residues can cause problems with heart and lung function in humans.
