Bob Barker is more than generous with his wealth when it comes to animal charities.
The vegetarian’s most recent donation has helped rescue several circus animals, including lions, monkeys and a horse, from Boliva after the country banned animals in circuses.
A group called Animal Defenders International performed the feat with Barker’s donation and has named a lion cub in his honor.
“What ADI has achieved in South America is a landmark accomplishment that will have worldwide repercussions,” Barker said. “[I am] proud to have shared in this historical victory on behalf of suffering animals exploited for man’s amusement.”
In 2009, Bolivia banned animal circuses following an intense investigation by the London-based ADI that uncovered much suffering. It is said that Bolivia was the first country in the world to do so. Recently, China has followed its lead.
