Ron Artest–The 80% Pork Chop Vegan

ESPN’s Rick Reilly had the pleasure of spending a day with Ron Artest. During the 16 hours of being studied, Artest obviously got a little hungry and revealed to Reilly he eats an 80% vegan diet.
“11:42 a.m. — Ron Ron is carrying a large bag of food for his lunch — all vegan. But Ron Ron is not entirely vegan. “About 80 percent,” he says. “I like pork chops.””
Everyone takes baby steps to get them in the right direction. No red meat. No dairy. Only cage-free eggs. Taking everything but pork off the menu is a step. But would Artest be more likely to call foul on pork if he realized these animals who are thought to be as smart as toddlers are electrically stunned to prepare them for slaughter and that that nasty little virus known as swine-flu probably jumped from a pig to a human in the setting of a factory farm, fair or other unnatural human-pig interaction that leads to human eating pig?
Pork chops can be veganized. Just ask Miss V’s Vegan Cookbook or Veganize It and try their recipes for Vegan Barbecue Pork Chops and Vegan-Sage Pork Chops with Warm Apple Slaw.
Yum. That’s a slam dunk, baby!
