Quantcast Vegetarian StarBryant Terry Gave Jidan Koon A Brilliant Earth Ethical Sapphire Ring

Bryant Terry and Jidan Koon kept their wedding details eco-friendly, from holding the ceremony at their home using materials already owned, to using an ethical engagement ring from Brilliant Earth jewelry company.

The custom made sapphire is Jidan’s birthstone.

Brilliant Earth is an ethical jewelry company based in San Francisco that doesn’t source diamonds from regions where forces that are opposed to recognized governments control the areas and funds are used to support military action in opposition to recognized governments.

You may recall recent news stories about Naomi Campbell testifying about a diamond she received from Charles Taylor, a man accused of taking illegally mined diamonds from Sierra Leone insurgents in return for weapons that were used in a campaign of terror which killed 120,000 people and enslaved children.

Besides sourcing diamonds from Canada instead of conflict ridden Africa,  Brilliant Earth donates 5% of its profits to the causes of restoring and repairing regions affected by unethical diamond trading. Brilliant Earth hopes to improve conditions in these areas through campaigns to prevent child labor, promote land restoration, give gemology training and provide medical aid.

So, now that you know what type of ring Bryant gave Jidan, aren’t you interested in learning how he proposed?

Says Jidan on their website:

“Bryant acted hella nervous all day, wore a nice aqua colored cashmere sweater that he bought for the occasion, told me to “look cute” for our date, left me at the table for like 15 minutes while he “went to the car for the camera,” came back and took my hand. . . He said, “Jidan, (sweet thoughts about our relationship and the potential of us growing old together)” then put the ring box on the table and started crying. I started crying too and we just held each other while balling. Then he said, “Is that a yes?”
