Mercedes CLS Takes Four Dead Animals To Make One Car

Is it a car? Or four dead animals?
Actually, it’s both. Mercedes has been boasting that it takes four animal skins to make one interior of their 2012 CLS cars.
“Four animal skins are processed for each CLS. The natural pore structure remains intact thanks to a light pigmentation, and the leather has an especially warm and soft feel to it. Premium leather requires a very precise manual selection process and therefore a high amount of raw leather.”
As Huliq points out, in this day and age, it’s rather odd for even a company that isn’t vegetarian or eco and animal friendly to be bragging about its skins.
“It is rather uncommon these days for a manufacturer to brag about the high number of animals used in their product.”
Perhaps the marketing folks are still living in the ages before cars existed and men were still trying to perfect one wheel, let alone four. Vegetarian Star suggests luxury car lovers do what Paul McCartney did with his Lexus and demand their next ride be equipped with cloth seating.
