Quantcast Vegetarian StarRufus Wainwright Going Vegetarian For Health, Animals

Rufus Wainwright

Rufus Wainwright is rethinking his decision to take bunny sandwiches to work everyday, like the rabbit schnitzel dish he ate on Cooking With The Band earlier this year, for both concern for the animals’ and his health.

“I’m becoming a vegetarian soon,” Wainwright said. “I feel bad about eating meat – it’s the same thing as eating a pet dog when it comes to it.”

Plus, forgoing steak and burgers now may save his life later on as the 36-year old is already having problems with his cholesterol.

“(I also) have very, very high cholesterol. I’m not on medication for it but I have to change my diet and begin to exercise.”

Health experts recommend keeping total cholesterol levels (both LDL and HDL) at 150 or below. Perhaps Wainwright could do even better by going vegan. According to Go Veg, the average person’s cholesterol is 210, while the average vegetarian’s cholesterol is 160 and the average vegan’s cholesterol is 133.
