Quantcast Vegetarian StarNatalie Portman Signs With Christian Dior. Does It Test On Animals?

Natalie Portman has signed on with Parfums Christian Dior to be their latest spokes model.

According to WWD, this will be the first perfume Portman has represented.

According to some databases, it may not be the best choice for a vegan.

Uncaged lists Christian Dior as a company that either 1. openly uses animal tested chemicals or 2. fails to demonstrate that both a product and ingredients used have not been tested on animals since after a fixed cut-off date.

PETA databases do not specifically say Christian Dior does test on animals, but the company is not listed among the cruelty-free brands that have pledged not to either.

Is Christian Dior just keeping mum about the whole ordeal? You know what they say about pleading the fifth…

If Dior does splash irritants in bunnies’ eyes, Portman may receive the same amount of criticism Ellen DeGeneres does for being a spokeperson for Cover Girl, a company that also tests on animals.

You should check your facts Christian Dior does not test on animals.
Shame on you for not checking but I guess boggers are not journalists and don’t really have standards.

Dear babs and any other reader,
Christian Dior is among many cosmetic/beauty/pufume etc. companies who claim to be ‘Against Animal Testing’ or ‘Don’t test on animals’ but this is nothing more than clever wording to trick people into to thinking they are cruelty ‘Free’! However many of these companies knowingly use ingredients that have been tested on animals (even if the testing was done by other companies) or they use a ‘rolling cut of date’ which you can google to find out what that means. (Many also use animal ingredients too but don’t state this clealy either, which is another way these companies are pretending to be cruelty free when they are not.) Unfortunatly the Peta lists (both the USA and UK one) are not cruelty free as they claim to be. All a company has to do to get on the list is to sign a declaration that ‘they’ don’t test on animals. As said above this doesn’t stop many of them using ingredients tested by other companies etc. The best sites to start with and to find the real cruelty free companies are BUAV.org and Uncaged.co.uk.
I hope this helps anyone looking to go cruelty free! 🙂

Dior doesn’t test on animals. If they tell their employees this then that is how it is.

I won’t believe Dior is cruelty free enough for me until I see a statement from them addressing third party testing and some sort of confirmation that they do not sell their products in China. I’d love to buy products from Dior, Chanel, or YSL again, but they’re just not transparent enough on this issue which tells me they’re hiding something.

  5. Maddie Says:

Dior sells to China which does require by LAW to test on animals . The brand is working to change this and are cruelty free in the US.

  6. Kieran Says:

All the Dior products are made in France. It says on all the packaging made in France. There is no animal testing allowed in Europe as this is the law. The Chinese test on animals for all products that are traded there. Dior create synthetic skin which they test on then use human trials after.
