Jillian Michaels has given USA Today readers some advice on eating healthy on the go.

“Order the vegan meal on the plane because it’s usually cleaner than all the other foods. Bring snacks with you when you’re on the road — things you can grab and go — whether it’s a healthy protein bar or dry-roasted nuts.”

Most major airlines, like Continental, United and American offer vegetarian and vegan meals for passengers, but it’s always best to contact the company in advance. In fact, American Airlines suggests you order at least 24 hours ahead of your flight for their items like penne pasta with artichokes or triple pepper bean medley.

If you’re flying to or from the UK, beware your veggie meal make brand you a terrorist. According to the Daily Mail, British police secretly investigated the travel habits they thought were associated with terrorism, which included ordering a meatless meal, of 47,000 innocent people who brought plane tickets to go in or out of the UK. The investigation resulted in no arrests, but the Daily Mail says police can now use the database to target “sex offenders and football hooligans.”

As expected, civil liberties proponents were outraged and further such investigations may be stopped by Britain’s new coalition Government so future UK travelers won’t have to resort to packing their own tofu jerky in fear of being branded by a useless stereotype.
