Quantcast Vegetarian StarWoody Harrelson Convinced Zombieland Director To Go Vegetarian

Zombieland panel at the San Diego Comic Con in CA

Woody Harrelson converted someone to vegetarianism, if only temporary.

During the filming of an upcoming film, Zombieland, Woody convinced director Ruben Fleischer to eat vegetarian during the duration of the shoot.

“The script is fantastic,” Jesse Einsenberg, who plays Columbus, told altpress.com. “Of course the premise is silly-there’s no way to describe it without sounding silly-but the script is great. It’s really wonderful and unique, and the characters are fantastic. Woody Harrelson is in it, and the director agreed to become a vegetarian for the duration of the shoot because Woody Harrelson is vegan.”

And let’s give it up for the environmentally friendly set.

“The set is pretty eco-friendly, actually. We recycle a lot onset, which is good, because movies are a very wasteful industry.”

Zombieland is set to the premise that after America is ravaged by a zombie plague, the few lone survivors run from the living dead, arriving at a theme park they believe to be safe.

[…] Another interesting factoid about Zombieland is that the star of the movie, Woody Harrelson, is a vegan. And not just a quiet pasty vegan but a burly and macho vegan who loves killing zombies and eating twinkies. Are twinkies vegan? Not in the real world. But Woody had special vegan twinkies made for him while filming the movie, which got quite a bit of news coverage for him, the movie, veganism, and of course twinkies. Also newsworthy, Woody convinced Zombieland director Jesse Einsenberg to eat vegetarian for the duration of the shoot. […]

[…] Not all vegans are so evil. The most interesting character in Zombieland by far is Tallahassee. He just likes killing zombies. Nothing evil about that. “Time to nut up or shut up” is how he puts it. Tallahassee is played by none other than Woody Harrelson, a bona-fide vegan. One of the main plot lines in the movie is Tallahassee’s quest for twinkies. He believes that someday twinkies will reach their expiration date, and he fully intends to enjoy them while they last. In our world of course twinkies are not vegan (and they last forever). To play the part Woody had vegan twinkies made especially for him to eat. This in turn caused a wave of media stories about  Woody’s vegan twinkies, a positive plug for veganism I think. Woody gets further vegan praise for convincing Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer to eat vegetarian for the duration of the shoot. […]
