Pamela Anderson stopped by one of Canada’s Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants to sample their new faux chicken vegetarian sandwich. The veggie chicken, which some say technically isn’t vegan because it’s fried in the same oil with the real chicks, was created in response to much pressure by celebrities and other folk for KFC to clean up its act and provide better environments for their chickens.

If you’re going to be visiting Canada before the end of September, you should take advantage of this buy 1 get one free coupon. We’re still waiting for a fake chicken in the U.S., though. Pam had this to say about her home country’s actions:

“It’s very Canadian of them. Very forward thinking. I’m very proud Canada KFC was the first to do it. Hopefully everyone else follows suit.”

Daryl Hannah Grows Own Food, Defends bio-fuel

The EMA & E! Golden Green Party - Arrivals

Actress Daryl Hannah grows her own produce and thinks bio-fuel is still a better option, despite some blaming it for the rise in food prices, since the production of ethanol uses food crops.

“I’ve personally witnessed the devastation in the Amazon that the oil companies have wrought upon these indigenous communities. There are open, unlined waste pits, rainbow oil slicks on the streams, high cadmium and lead poisoning in the children and wildlife. When you see these crimes, you have no choice but to speak up,” she said.

“In the case of ethanol and corn production. it is partly responsible” (for food price rises),” Hannah admitted in an interview.

But she insists that there are other sources that bio-fuel can be harvested from, including, “garbage, hemp, algae, moringa, jatropha, cellulose waste and prairie grasses.”

The vegetarian once told a source that she found it very upsetting to eat a lobster on the 1984 Movie, “Splash.”

Obama Can Pronounce “Vegan”-Wants More Veggies For The Children

Barack Obama Holds Town Hall Meeting In Cedar Rapids

Nikki Benoit, Outreach Coordinator for Florida Voices for Animals, attended an Obama speech at St. Pete Gibbs High in Florida last week and was delighted to hear him discuss the environment, factory farming, and children getting more nutritious food in schools. She was also ecstatic that he could pronounce “vegan.”

“As I was being handed the mic, Obama read my shirt out loud – “Vegan Outreach” . . . . .YES!!! HE DID!!! AND…he pronounced it RIGHT!!!”

Some other points in the Obama speech included more preventative measures to address the health care crisis, such as changing America’s eating habits and he said schools need more fruits and vegetables versus pre-packaged food and meat products.

The story, at Vegan.com, ends with the blogger wondering how McCain would pronounce “vegan.”
