The Hurlingham Polo Association has launched an investigation into the injury a horse Prince Harry was riding during a game of polo when it suffered a wound oozing visible blood from a spur Harry was wearing.
The incident occurred during a ride at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, Berkshire, in July.
The association’s rules forbid a rider to use spurs excessively and to wear a spur that is likely to result in the horse being injured. Any abuse from a spur, whip or other device that hurts a horse is also forbidden and can result in a fine of up to 50,000 pounds or $77,000.
