Jillian Michaels Rallies For NYC Carriage Horse Retirement

Jillian Michaels joined several supporters of a plan to retire horse-drawn carriages in NYC on the steps of the town’s city hall.
One of the coaches of The Biggest Loser was accompanied by members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, New York City Council members and NYCLASS — a group that wants to replace the carriages with electric cars.
The event comes after a highly publicized accident involving a horse being frightened by a passing bus.
“I have had horses since I was a little girl,” Jillian said. “I understand not only the animal welfare aspects of this situation but also how it endangers unassuming tourists that have no concept of how a horse would react in congested traffic given a bus horn honking, a drum circle in the park. It puts people and horses in harm’s way.”
Last year, Michaels lent her face to an ad campaign in the city which featured her standing next to a horse, the tagline reading: “NYC’s Horses are the Biggest Losers.”
During the rally, Michaels expressed an interest in adopting a recently retired horse.
