Katie Couric is a smoothie fan and she invited David Jack from Men’s Health Magazine to give her a few bits of nutritional advice plus a recipe for a great shake.

Katie and David’s smoothie makes use of high-protein almond butter, plus bananas, chia seeds and berries.

The almond butter and banana give the shake essential fats and texture, respectively.

It is sweetened with agave nectar.

And don’t forget the most popular vegetable in smoothies at the moment–kale.

“I noticed kale,” Katie said, “and I’m really into kale these days. I think everybody is – it’s so trendy.”

David suggests that the Greek yogurt in the recipe be completely optional, so vegans this should not be hard to master.
