South Dakota ranchers have gotten their way for now.
Legendary rocker Joan Jett was removed from the state’s float which will travel in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
Being the woman with endless energy from her plant-based diet, she’s already sprung back and has already found another ride.
“I’ve decided to switch from South Dakota to another float because people’s political agendas were getting in the way of what should be a purely entertainment driven event,” Jett said.
“I will remain focused on entertaining the millions of people watching, who will be celebrating a great American tradition.”
PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews responded feels that the pressure from the organization is due to the fact that such a well-liked celebrity who also happens to shun meat may make an impact on how people in the state or even the entire country may view the meat industry.
“Thanks to South Dakota’s reactionary ranchers, people across the country have learned why Joan Jett supports PETA,” he said.
“The meat trade can’t stand any scrutiny of its cruelty.”
