With so many chefs making headlines for bad news lately, it’s refreshing to hear stories of those who are making a difference in the health of children and adults across the country and the world.
Food Tank has named its “Eleven Inspiring Sustainable Chefs” who’ve made it their mission to teach America where its food comes from, support the local farmer, and encourage better eating patterns.
Assistant White House chef and Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives Sam Kass is one to watch, according to Food Tank. He has been instrumental in reviving the garden on the White House lawn and using food grown in it to feed the First Family and guests. He’s also assisted the First Lady with her Let’s Move! campaign to stop childhood obesity.
Great chefs aren’t all located in the nation’s capitol.
Chef Jamie Oliver has also been praised for bringing his idea of a “Food Revolution” from the UK to America, in an attempt to transform school lunches with his ABC television series. He’s been involved in several other projects aimed to reduce food waste and teach basic cooking skills.
