Chef Roble Ali caters to a variety of taste on his Bravo television series Chef Roble & Co.
He’s prepared meals for weddings, socialite parties, pet parties and even celebrities like himself.
During an interview with NPR, Ali discussed how he once prepared a meal for Matisyahu.
The vegan rapper wanted a vegan Thai meal, the preparation of which was supervised by a rabbi to ensure the feast was Kosher.
Ali told NPR:
“I’ve worked with kosher caterers before and I know that there are a lot of rules. And when I’m doing my own thing, I don’t like to have those kinds of own rules. I was very much trepidacious about doing it, but I was like, ‘You know what? At the same time, let me see what I could do here.’ Not many non-kosher caterers get a chance to do a kosher catered event. So I did it. I learned a lot. And Rabbi Meretez, he was awesome. That’s my boy. We got along very well. And we still have a great relationship to this day. Matisyahu and I are very cool, and I got to do something special and new. As long as I can learn from it and it ends well, I’m happy about it.”
