Quantcast Vegetarian Star“Super Size Me” Co-Creator Alex Jamieson Gives Up Vegan Diet

Alex Jamieson isn’t thinking of eating three Big Macs a day like the subject of her popular documentary on what fast food does to the body, Supersize Me.

But she may be eating more dairy and eggs these days.

The author discussed her reasons for doing so on a recent blog post titled, “I’m not vegan anymore.”

From the blog:

“I am no longer vegan. And I am still passionately devoted to helping as many people reach their ultimate health as I can. By helping them accept their cravings and working with their unique bodies to create lives of meaning, freedom and radical self-acceptance. I’ve been thinking of how to tell you this story for some time now. What I’m about to share may come as a total shock to you. You might want nothing to do with me after today. But I’m really hoping that you feel hopeful and breathe a sigh of relief.”

Jamieson cited health as the reason behind her diet choice, but Ed Coffin responded to this announcement questioning how allowing animal products into her diet does anything for anyone’s health–human or animal.

In a post titled, “Alex Jamieson Is Not the Victim, the Animals Are,” Coffin wrote:

“Sure, we should “listen to our bodies” when we have a persistent ache or pain, but to assert that there’s some sort of legitimacy to “listening to your body” when decades of solid nutrition research completely refute your “cravings” is just plain insane. This is what is so troubling about Alex Jamieson. She positions herself as some alleged nutrition expert, yet she hasn’t the credentials nor the knowledge to be giving such recommendations.”
