Pamela Anderson Urges UK Store To Take Foie Gras Off Shelves

Pamela Anderson wants UK store Fortnum & Mason to remove foie gras from its shelves.
The vegetarian and pro-animal actress said:
“I am pretty tough, but watching this disgusting process [in a video] brought me to tears. My ice skating may not have won a popularity contest in Britain, but I love the U.K. and its reputation as a nation that opposes cruelty to animals.”
“That’s why I’m stunned that Fortnum & Mason sells a product that involves one of the cruellest practices in the world,” she continued.
Foie gras is made from the liver of a duck or goose. The animal is fed to excess, causing its organ to swell. Pain and other health problems result.
Other celebrities have also urged the store to remove the International item that is not legal to manufacture in the UK.
In 2011, Ricky Gervais made a statement on Fortnum and Mason selling foie gras, saying:
“I have been a customer of your store for many years and I consider it a great British institution. I am however, saddened to hear that despite the extremely unethical processes involved in obtaining it, you continue to stock foie gras.”
