“Life After Top Chef” Jennifer Carroll Vegetarian Concrete Blonde

At first mention, Life After Top Chef sounds like a knock-off of a celebrity reality TV show where 80s and 90s one-hit-wonders, teen heartthrobs and the likes attempt one more shot of fame before finally losing their complete hairlines.
But it’s actually an exciting series from Bravo featuring Top Chef‘s big names that are already doing quite well like Fabio Viviani, Richard Blais, Spike Mendelsohn and Jennifer Carroll, who’s opening the vegetarian-friendly Concrete Blonde in New York City’s West Village.
Life After Top Chef will feature Carroll, who placed 4th on Season 6 of Top Chef and 17th place on All-Stars, finding investors for the restaurant that although will contain seafood, will also feature what she says are “a bunch” of vegetarian options and have a support-local theme to it.
“We’ve come up with this idea of dock-to-dish, playing off the whole farm-to-table idea,” she said. “We have three fishermen who are solely fishing for the restaurant and we’re in the process of experimenting different ways of getting the fish from the boat to the restaurant within 24 hours because usually the fish changes hands four times. We also want to make it a CSF, like a CSA [Community Supported Agriculture], so our neighbors could order a pound of fish for a week like they would a pound of vegetables.”
Life After Top Chef premiers tonight, October 3, 10/9c on Bravo.
