Beverly Hills Nannies, a new reality TV series on ABC featuring behind the scenes stories of children of some of the zip code’s wealthiest families and the women and men who care for them, may have a vegan family on the show.

“This show is about Nannies and families,” said Brentwood mother-of-four Deborah Elkins. “We are a vegan family of 6, we hope to inspire more vegans and healthier eating by appearing in this show as the vegan family.”

The Elkins family appeared in a promotional video for the show but it’s unsure if they’ll actually be in an actual episode.

(A little bit of a spoiler of the first episode…)

I have seen this episode last night and I actually find it quite stereotypical to Vegans. It’s because they make it like Vegan’s are not capable of eating anything. Which is a huge myth that people believe and one of the reasons individuals revert themselves from becoming vegans

Ex. In the 1st episode the nanny took one of Elkin’s children to get a snack and she couldn’t get any donuts, cookies or other pastries & was only given a sour piece of bread.

Ex. The lack of cheese or meat on the pizza the family ordered.

Now I don’t know if its a desirably taste or that the pizza making company didn’t supply alternatives. But I never seen a vegan without some soy cheese and maybe some bean burger meat on-top of their pizza.

I don’t know if it was the nanny who didn’t know that vegans don’t need to starve themselves to death with only flavorless breads and veggies.

Because Vegans can eat basically everything any other person eats; Cheeseburgers, Bacon, Donuts, Cakes etc. All things people believe those of vegan-ism cannot eat but in reality they can. All the non-animal based products can easily be converted in vegan based. Soy cheese, vegan meat made from soy beans, soy cakes and donuts etc.

Yet many bakeries, grocery stores lack the alternatives for vegans. Its even better to make the food yourself at home. Which is much easier.

You can look at any vegan website for cooking recipes and ingredients and see that all vegan food is not dry and flavorless.

Here’s a recipe for making vegan chocolate chip cookies:

Well this is only episode one. I really don’t know how everything else will turn out.

But I just hope this doesn’t continue adding the myths about vegans…
