Alanis Morissette Mayim Bialik Give Thoughts On Attachment Parenting

Not long ago, Time Magazine ran an article on attachment parenting and the benefits of breastfeeding a child to an age many would consider inappropriate.
The controversial piece generated thoughts from two vegan moms (which has its own controversy), Alanis Morissette and Mayim Bialik, who happens to have authored a book on the topic.
Alanis: I personally believe that the attachment stage, done well, can circumvent countless addictions later in life because many of these addictions are often a temporary attempt at feeling this sense of connection. If a child’s needs during this stage of development are not met, he or she will be staving off a haunting sense of cellular disconnection and loneliness for a lifetime. they will not have effectively internalized a loving nurturance as their own love-style.
Mayim: There’s a tremendous amount of variation, but in general, attachment parenting does support what we call extended breast-feeding. So to say that it is recommended that babies breast-feed exclusively for six months is the general global recommendation for baby and mother’s health, but there’s still a strong emphasis on starting solids at 4 or 6 months. Both of my kids did not have solids until after their first birthday.
