Jodie Marsh Builds A Body Without Animal Flesh

Model and reality TV star Jodie Marsh took up weightlifting two years ago and has since lost body fat, gotten toner than ever and competed in several competitions.
Unlike the stereotypical muscle building diet of fish and chicken, Marsh accomplished her physique on a completely vegetarian diet.
“Bodybuilders prepare for a contest by going on protein-only diets and eating chicken and fish,” Marsh said, according to The Sun.
“But I’m a vegetarian so all I could have was egg whites and protein shakes. In the morning I’d have seven scrambled egg whites along with a cup of green tea.
“Two hours later I’d have a protein shake. Then a few hours later more egg whites, followed by shakes, water and black tea.”
Like other areas of sports, vegetarian bodybuilding competitors are not uncommon. Vegan bodybuilding is not impossible either, as there are rich sources of protein in plant-based foods like seitan and tofu.
Vegan bodybuilder Amanda Riester, gave an example of her typical diet on VeganBodyBuilding.com: “My bodybuilding diet is very strict! I eat every 3 hours and consume at least 25 grams of protein every meal, 6 meals a day! At each meal I incorporate a raw green vegetable and twice a day I eat berries or an apple. I also drink at least 1 gallon of water a day. Homemade seitan is my preference for protein, it has roughly 130 calories, fat and sodium free and 27 grams of protein. I also really enjoy Vega brand protein shakes post workout!”
