Emily Deschanel “Fit Pregnancy” Interview On Vegan Pregnancy

Emily Deschanel may be one of the few vegan women still standing that refuse to eat animal products during pregnancy.
Hats off to her!
The mother-to-be is looking gorgeous on the cover of the October/November 2011 issue of Fit Pregnancy.
There’s no better way to set an example of what makes a fit pregnant woman than a glowing vegan one who reassures readers a pregnancy with plant-protein is no hardship.
“I don’t think it’s any more challenging for me than for anyone else,” Deschanel said.
“The real challenge for a vegan is getting vitamin B12 and omega-3s, but you can get those in a vegetarian supplement.”
Like most women, vegetarian or not, Deschanel has experienced a change in taste preference while her mini-me grows inside her belly. For example, you won’t find her making midnight trips to the store for kale.
“The funny thing is, I love kale and always used to put it in my breakfast shakes, but for some reason I can’t stand it right now,” she said.
Not a problem, as there are plenty of green, leafy sources of non-dairy calcium to enjoy when kale isn’t cutting it, like brussels sprouts, broccoli, turnip greens and mustard greens.

Good for Emily! Showing a good example. Emily is an amazing person and a great actress. She has been a vegan for a while so I am glad she did not stop while pregnant. I made a blog post about vegan pregnancy: http://veganpeace.blogspot.com/2011/03/vegan-pregnancy.html.
