Quantcast Vegetarian StarRachael Ray Summer Grill Tips With Baby Bella Veggie Burgers

Memorial Day may be behind us, but grill season is just getting started!

In addition to the major ultra-cool grill holidays like 4th of July and Labor Day coming up in the next few months, there will be plenty of lazy summer evenings and weekends to showcase your veggie burger chef talents.

Or lack of.

Rachael Ray appeared on Good Morning America to burst some bubbles about what makes a good grill chef, brining her portabello mushroom burgers with her.

If meat eaters normally turn away your planty creations, try softening up the burgers in order to soften up their hearts.

“So many people make this mistake: they just grill the veggies as they are, so the veggies end up lacking flavor and texture,” Ray said. “No wonder the kids don’t like them! If you are going to make a portobello burger on the grill on in the broiler you need to make a vinaigrette and pour it over the mushroom caps, gill side up so it soaks into the gills before they go in. Mushrooms can dry up and the vinaigrette keeps everything flavorful and moist like a burger.”

Try Ray’s advice with her baby bella burgers with watercress pesto.
