Quantcast Vegetarian StarLauren Bush FEED Japan Shop In New York City Cupcake Bakery

Lauren Bush is combining the task of feeding the hungry in Japan with feeding the sweet teeth in New York City.

Little Cupcake Shop on Prince Street in NYC has opened a FEED shop-in-shop that offers handbags and baked goods that benefit the FEED Japan disaster relief fund.

Every FEED Japan bag, t-shirt or cupcake you purchase helps benefit victims of the Japan earthquake.

“FEED was happy to be able to respond and raise much-needed funds to help in Japan’s disaster relief by quickly creating the FEED Japan bag and T-shirt,” Bush told Ecouterre. “Both items were launched soon after the earthquake and the money raised will go back to supporting aid organizations such as UNICEF and others working on the ground to provide help to those who need it most.”

Even before the FEED shop opened, Little Cupcake Bakery was being a good steward of the planet.

Its equipment is obtained from certified procurers of green products and since 2007, it has been a carbon neutral bakery, donating a portion of its sales to Carbon Fund, an organization that plants trees.

The next obvious step for Little Cupcake Shop is to offer a vegan pastry. When it does, we’ll be singing double praises.
