Cindi Avila “Chopped” Meat From Diet To Become Great Celebrity Chef (Video)

Cindi Avila was a contestant on the Food Network reality cooking show Chopped and a guest on the Bravo series Pregnant in Heels. The vegetarian chef and TV personality has said in an interview with Chicago Now she has a love for Lightlife vegetarian meat products because it allows her to cook some of her old favorite meat dishes like chicken parmesean.
She’s a friend of Gene Baur on Facebook, so it’s good guess she’s also a fan of Farm Sanctuary, one of the most well-known animal sanctuaries that rescues abused, abandoned and neglected farm animals from around the country.
The animals are a big reason Avila went veg. She recently told San Diego Vegetarian Examiner, Michelle Vint:
The biggest benefit of a meat-free lifestyle is definitely helping the animals. You may think you are just one person, but if you give up meat you still have a huge impact. One person giving up meat for a year can actually save dozens of animals. When you think about it that way it is easy to make sense of it. Secondary the health benefits that come along with being a vegetarian or vegan are great. You normally don’t have to worry about high cholesterol, clogged arteries and lots of medical evidence shows meat reduction also helps reduce the chance of getting certain diseases.

In the meantime, enjoy her recipe for making guacamole, a dish that won her honors on the TLC’s Dinner Takes All reality cooking competition show.
