Smart USA Car Hello Kitty With Spay And Neuter Message

An environmentally friendly car with a message to save millions of cats and dogs from euthanasia? Only the marketing folks at PETA would think of something so clever!
Smart USA, the maker of the compact, fuel-efficient two person vehicle, has partnered with Sanrio to bring treehuggers car wraps with the Hello Kitty logo on them.
PETA is asking Smart USA to take things a bit further and place a message about spaying and neutering pets on the wraps.
“That way, caring fortwo owners can help save lives by driving home the point that spaying and neutering dogs and cats helps curb the companion animal overpopulation crisis,” writes PETA. “Additionally, we’ve suggested that Smart USA donate all the proceeds from the Hello Doggy wraps—which would be offered in full and half sizes—to spay-and-neuter programs.”
Saving 4 million shelter pets that never find homes is by far one of the smartest things to do.
The Smart USA car is categorized as an ultra-low emission vehicle. This fuel efficient, non-hybrid gasoline car boasts a 2010 EPA estimated MPG rating of 33 city / 41 highway. If every car on the road were a Smart Car, it’s estimated that:
- 24,242 miles of roadway (which is just shy of the circumference of Earth) would be freed up due to the car being 1/2 the length of a regular vehicle.
- Only 1/2 of the parking spaces used would be needed.
If every person drove a Smart USA car with the message to spay and neuter pets, it’s estimated the number of unwanted animals would drop significantly.
