The long awaited US component of the FEED Projects bags created to raise funds to provide nutrition to impoverished children in the U.S. will debut at the GAP x FEED U.S.A. Pop-Up Shop during Fashion’s Night Out in New York City, September 10th, 2010.
The bags were co-designed by GAP and come in three different designs, one canvass tote and two denim buckets. The bags retail between $29.50 to $39.50 and will be available exclusively at GAP stores in the U.S.
For each bag sold, $5 goes towards giving children in U.S. schools better nutrition education and healthier meals. The customer may choose which school project to give funds to through FEED’s partnership with DonorsChoose.org.
FEED USA’s website has a list of projects created by teachers in public schools, ranging from gardening, cooking with foods grown in school gardens and salad bars. Money requested for such projects can be as little as roughly $100 and all the way past $1,000. Once a project has been funded, donorschoose.org will send the materials to the class. To apply the bag’s purchase toward a project, simply enter the coupon code that came with the bag.
FEED USA is a campaign created by the charitable company FEED LLC. and FEED Projects Foundation, co-founded by Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafson.
