Carrie Underwood Face Of Olay Skin Products Tested On Animals

When vegetarian celebrities partner with not so vegetarian companies, it’s one of those C & C Music Factory moments: Things That Make You Go Hmmm.
Carrie Underwood is the new face of Olay skin products and according to USA Today, is the first “celebrity ambassador” for the brand.
Olay is owned by Proctor & Gamble, a company, that continues to test a small percentage of its products on animals.
PETA’s Caring Consumer Database lists Olay as a product tested on animals and the UK Times Online says a preservative found in some Olay products, butylparaben, was tested on pregnant rats in the U.S. in 2004.
Rats were force-fed Olay (in case humans want to taste test their Olay Regenerist Night moisturizer and Olay Regenerist Eye Derma-Pod for dinner) and the unborn offspring were removed by caesarian section and tested for toxic effects.
The decision to represent Olay may ding Underwood with her vegetarian fans. As a vegan, Ellen DeGeneres is still taking heat for signing up to do Cover Girl commercials. At least Twihards can be proud Ashley Greene represents cruelty-free Avon.
Olay has been giving hints about Underwood coming aboard by publicly making announcements like, “She loves her pizza—but hold the pepperoni because the new face of Olay is a vegetarian.”
Will the company one day say, “Hold the animal tests, because the potential customers of Olay are vegetarian and animal lovers?”
