Farmville, a Zynga game offered as a Facebook and iphone app which simulates different aspects of farming, does not depict a true image of most farms, with its smiling animals roaming freely around green, idyllic pasture settings. But the game is getting into the greener side of things, offering users a chance to grow organic produce.

Farmville has partnered with Cascadian Farm organic food brand to teach users about organic farming, raise awareness in support of organic farmers and offer coupons for products.

Now through July 26, Cascadian Farm will provide players with green living tips, coupon offers and more. Also this week, organic blueberry crops will be the most profitable crop offered to the beginner and expert Farmville player. Players will want to look for Farmer Joe Cascadian, as he is the virtual tender and they will want to find his avatar and be his farm neighbor.

Players will need to reach 600 harvests to master the limited edition blueberry crop, with first and second level mastering requiring 200 and 400 crops, respectively.

“When deciding on our first branded crop integration, we wanted to offer our users a unique opportunity that would benefit their gaming experience and add value to their lives both on and offline,” said Vish Makhijani, senior vice president of business operations at Zynga. “Cascadian Farm perfectly aligned with our vision and what the FarmVille game represents.”
