Quantcast Vegetarian Star“24 Hour Restaurant Battle” Features Vegetarian Friendly Restaurateur

The Food Network is red hot with vegetarian friendly features on its shows!

Besides two vegan friendly cupcake bakers who squared off against their egg and dairy counterparts in “Cupcake Wars,” (not to mention the vegan chef who took home the grand $10,000 prize), more vegetarian chefs are set to compete in a new reality competition where aspiring restaurateurs must design all the works of a restaurant–from food, decor and concept. The winner walks away from start up money to pursue the dream!

On Wednesday, August 18th at 10PM E/P, 24 Hour Restaurant Battle will put a couple of friends with an idea for a vegetarian friendly menu against a father and son team.

The Futon Critic posted a press release of the episode, along with several others that will air during the season.

“A father/son team faces-off against two best friends in this restaurant battle. Glahad Dizon is willing to give up his career as a postman in Teaneck, N.J., to make his son Andrew’s dream of opening his own restaurant come true. Neeka Dockeny, a stay-at-home mom from Philadelphia, and Dorinda Hampton, a New Castle, Del. bakery business owner, have been inseparable since age one. Some unexpected twists to their menus arise: The Dizons go back to their roots with a Filipino-American concept in a modern setting featuring traditional tripe and tongue while Neeka and Dorinda focus on a contemporary vegetarian menu that includes fish. Judges include: Karine Bakhoum, Gabriella Gershenson, and Geoffrey Zakarian.”

Will vegetarian Food Network fans claim a second victory in another reality cooking show? Tune in next month to find out!
