Loni Love Gets No Love For “Chelsea Lately” Pet Bacon Comment
Written by Vegetarian Star on November 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Comedians, Film & TV, Not So Vegetarian, Pop Culture.
Loni Love is a comedian and actress who frequently appears on Chelsea Handler‘s show, Chelsea Lately, during The Roundtable, which is a segment that discusses events going on in pop culture.
Recently, the conversation at The Roundtable turned to making a joke about someone eating a pig that was a pet and Loni said, “The nice thing about having a pig as a pet is that when it gets older, you can have bacon.”
Um, no.
What person in their right mind could eat something that has intelligence beyond that of a three year old that they’ve reared and cared for?
We think Chelsea said it best when she jokingly responded she could never raise a pig and eat it because she had “too much respect for Miss Piggy.”

If that’s what offends you, you should see the rest of the show. I hope they make fun of the author of this article, because I know I will be. She can say whatever she wants, if that pisses you off… That SUCKS.

It’s crap like this that makes me embarrassed to admit I’m a vegetarian.
Grow up. You cannot take a joke and you are not saving the world.

You do realize that it’s comedy, right?
If the topic was sudden popularity of dogs as pets amoung Koreans.
The punchline would have been βThe nice thing about them having a dog as a pet is that when it gets older, you can have stir fry.β
It’s the obsurdity that is funny. I highly doubt that Loni Love is at home standing over her aquarium just waiting for Goldie the gold fish to be plump enough to batter and deep fry.
It is articles like this that make people think that vegetarians are crazy. I will now go and eat a pork product in protest of people with sticks up their butts. There are far more serious items that can be discussed in realtion to animal treatment and or mistreatment.
Don’t get riled up over a funny joke on a late night comedy program that airs on E! Get riled up over things like …
NYer faces animal cruelty charge; carcasses found
SELDEN, N.Y. β Authorities are investigating whether any of the more than 20 animal carcasses found in the backyard of a Long Island home are the remains of animals reported missing by pet owners in the area…. An SPCA officer for nearly 25 years, Gross said the discovery of the animal carcasses was one of the worst scenes he had ever witnessed.
“This is one I probably will never forget,” Gross said. “It was like watching a horror film unfold in front of us.
“The sickening smell was sometimes overpowering to our officers and the firefighters.”
He confirmed that authorities were alerted to the scene by McDonough’s 21-year-old son, Douglas.
“It was a concentration camp for the animals,”

I’m afraid it’s you trolls who can’t take a joke. If you can’t see the humor in the post backing Chelsea up because she respects Miss Piggy then you’ve got a stick in your butt.
The post was trying to emphasize the disconnection people have about the food on their plate while educating about the intelligence of the species they’re eating.
As for the 20 animals found…that is extremely sad and disgusting.
But there are at least 200 and up to 1,000 cows that go into one hamburger alone.
The difference is humans (at least in North America) view cows as acceptable to eat while dogs and other family pets aren’t.
This site frequently takes examples of meat indulgence and pokes fun of it because it’s so anti-vegetarian. That’s why it’s a celebrity blog. It’s about trash talking.
And you obviously can’t talk the best trash. π

I just came across this, I watch the show, Loni is a doll, she is funny and kind. It was a joke. Does anyone remember that being vegan/veggie is a choice? NOT a right to diss others. Get a grip. I have been a vegan for over 10 years, and never rip on anyone who eats meat or jokes about it. Isn’t this a celebrity veg site? almost like TMZ with out the beef chicken or whatever???????
