Leona Lewis‘ fashion line may have hit a little bump.

Though the singer still has plans to have a clothing and shoes brand created, it’s been difficult finding ethical and vegetarian friendly supplies.

“I’m trying to make that happen as soon as I can,” Lewis told UK Vogue.

“It’s a challenge – mostly with shoes – as I don’t wear any leather and am very ethical about what I wear.”

Despite the challenges, Leona’s love of both animals and fashion will most likely give her the motivation to continue to pursue the clothing line that Leona wishes to be both trendy and affordable.

“I really enjoy fashion and I love being creative. I work with a couple of stylists but I love fashion so am always looking online and in magazines for inspiration,” she said.

Clothing is expensive enough. When you throw in designer labels and aim to be cruelty-free the price jumps so much, it makes you want to take a sewing class and make your own.

Leona Lewis wants to change that and expressed her desire to do so to Sunday Express’ S.

“I love Stella McCartney – but her clothes are very expensive,” Lewis said of the eco-friendly fashion designer. “I think people need a more affordable option.”

“I’m trying to find the right companies to work with, sourcing different things and talking to creative teams.”

“I would love to promote an affordable line of non-leather bags and shoes.”

Leona Lewis Designing Leather Free Shoes And Bags

Talk has been going on for the past several months about Leona Lewis having a cruelty-free, vegan fashion line in the works. Now we know what she’s designing.

According to the UK Mirror, she’ll be giving Stella McCartney some competition by offering a line of vegan shoes, as well as bags.

Lewis is a strict vegetarian and refused to perform at a Harrods department store seasonal kick off because the store sells fur. She even went so far as to say something was wrong with those who continue to wear fur despite being educated about the cruelty to animals involved in harvesting it.

Her philosophy on using animals for clothing is pretty simple: “I’m a vegetarian. I don’t eat animals, so I won’t wear them.”

And now, many of her fans won’t either.

MTV Asia Awards 2008 - Arrivals

A lot of internet talk has been going on about Leona Lewis releasing her own line of cruelty free and vegan clothing. It’s finally official. The British “Bleeding Love,” star will do what Natalie Portman did and what Pamela Anderson wants to do now that she thinks Ugg Boots are Ugg-ly because they contain sheepskin.

On a recent video blog, she said, “I don’t wear leather or any animal products, so I want to bring out a line . . . I’m kind of the real beginning stages of it. I’m not sure when it will be out, but I hope very soon.”

Let’s hope they are as affordable as they are vegan so everyone can enjoy the pleasure of walking around in their own, and not another animal’s skin.
