Samantha Barks Relates To Fish For PETA Ad

Samantha Barks may be known for her roles in I’d Do Anything and Les Misérables, but an advertisement for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has her living the life of a fish in order to get the message out about animal welfare.
The vegetarian actress wants fans to know how fish feel when they’re being caught for food.
“Fish suffocate when pulled out of the water,” the ad reads.
“Please try to relate, and keep fish off your plate.”
Easy for Barks to do because she’s read the literature PETA has provided that cites studies that have found fish feel pain just like land animals, including those farmed and those being kept as pets.
The process of fishing results in decompression–a pressure that ruptures the swim bladder of the fish and damages its internal organs, not to mention causing pain.
Whether you’re a meat eater trying to go veg or a pescatarian who’s almost completely veg–try to relate and say no to fish before it reaches your dinner plate.
