Mayim Bialik and several other celebrities have congratulated a public school in New York for putting healthy and plant-based options on the school cafeteria menu.
The The Active Learning Academy PS 244Q in Queens, N.Y. received a letter from Bialik and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal for which praised it for its food options, which won it the 2013 Golden Carrot Award.
“Having access to delicious plant-based foods is what helps me achieve everything I want to achieve,” Bialik wrote in her letter to Principal Robert Groff. “I feel refreshed and energized whether spending a long day on the set of ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ after a long day of teaching science, or being with my kids. High-fat, high-cholesterol foods only slow you down.”
The Active Learning Academy is not only a great place to for kids to eat well while receiving an education.
It may even be a nice tourist spot for healthy foodies with little ones in the Queens area.
Bialik said the school sounds like a great place to dine or snack, especially with her kids.
“I have family in Queens and now I know where to come to if my children need a quick bite to eat.”
The Academy regularly keeps its students full with items like spinach wraps and tofu dishes.
