The Reverend Al Sharpton has a brand new book out.
The Rejected Stone covers many phases of his life, from growing up and jokingly signing his name as “Reverend” even though he was just a child to changing his diet to vegan, resulting in a loss of over 100 pounds.
While plant-based diets are responsible for his transformation, Sharpton jokingly told Matt Lauer he was the inspiration for his brand new body.
“I gave up meat, I started watching my diet, I work out,’’ Sharpton said to the Today host. “I get up every morning and watch you Matt, and I say, ‘I want to look like that.”
The 59-year old weighed at just a little over 300 pounds at his heaviest in 2009 before he began dieting and exercising.
He’s now a much slimmer and healthier 138.
