Syesha Mercado Loves Vegan Chicago While On “Book Of Mormon” Tour

Syesha Mercado has spent almost a year in Chicago starring as the African village girl Nabulungi in the on-stage hit The Book of Mormon.
Eleven months is long time to get to know one of the more popular tourist spots in the United States.
If vegan food guidance is what you’re looking for, this actress who’s also an American Idol alum can surely provide more than a brochure’s worth of “Where to Go.”
Mercado definitely has her favorites she’s become accustomed to while on tour for Mormon.
She likes to cook at home but it is time for a culinary adventure out, she takes a trip to one of several vegan establishments the Windy City has to offer.
Mercado told Chicago-Sun Times:
“I’m really picky when it comes to eating so I usually prepare and cook my own food because I’m really health-conscious and it’s hard to find a place I really like. But recently I found Karyn ’s [Karyn’s Cooked; Karyn’s on Green], where they either cook the food … or serve up raw dishes [which I love]. So you can survive in Chicago among all the deep-dish pizza places and fried food if you’re a vegan, vegetarian or a raw foodie.”
Health conscious foodies who love vegan also love to bike.
Mercado gives Chicago’s bike program two thumbs up and more at Sun-Times.
