Quantcast Vegetarian StarCookie Monster Practicing Self-Restraint With Cookie Jar (Video)

Cookie Monster has been known for generations as the gluttinous, overeating furry character on Sesame Street that, unlike some of his co-stars, really doesn’t teach children much other than how they too can one day contribute to the obesity crisis.

Much has changed.

A segment on ABC World News spotlights the new Cookie Monster, one who aims to practice patience around cookies so that they remain in the jar a little longer.

Cookie Monster’s new goals are about pacing oneself during eating, saving cookies for later and using cookies to reward yourself for a good job.

During a clip seen on the show, Cookie Monster is eyeballing a big jar of his favorite drug while singing, “Me want to grab it, want to eat it…but me wait.”

Can’t wait until his self-help book becomes a best-seller.

You still must applaud Sesame Street’s efforts to instill good habits and values in children when it comes to eating, especially in an age when cookies do make up all four food groups and exercise is the equivalent of thumbing the remote control to switch between Sesame Street and Nickalodeon.

When Cookie Monster or any other Sesame Street resident starts to preach the virtues of vegan snacks…we’ll want to grab it, want to watch it…and we will.
