Spike Mendelsohn Puts Vegetarian Mushroom Steak On Béarnaise Menu

Spike Mendelsohn remembered the little vegetarian people when he opened We the Pizza, which featured not one, not two, but SEVEN vegetarian pies.
He still told these potential customers they should “have a steak every once in awhile.”
With his latest restaurant, a steakhouse called Béarnaise that’s no too far from We the Pizza, they can.
It features a vegetarian option that is made from portobello mushrooms instead of beef.
Mushrooms must be the plant-based meat alternative of choice for Mendelsohn, as his vegetarian burger at Good Stuff bearing the name “Vegetarians and People Too,” is made from an “organic portobello mushroom stuffed with Muenster and Cheddar Cheese, flashed fried with panko crumbs, ruby tomatoes, onions, lettuce and pickle with Good Stuff Sauce.”
And unlike the mistake a very popular fast food chain made with its french fries several years ago, according to The Washingtonian, the potato component to the mushroom meat is not cooked in animal grease.
